A low carb food list can help to determine which carbs you should be partaking in, but is not an absolute necessity. Remembering the difference between simple carbs and complex carbs could be made easier for some if they are readily identifiable. A common rule of thumb for determining which foods belong on your good low carb food list is to think about how the food has been handled or prepared. A peach, for instance, is bound to be pure and free of additives. It hasn’t been cooked, it hasn’t been smashed or mashed or bagged or preserved. There is, therefore, a good chance that the carbohydrates found in this fresh food source are simple, and thus good for you. They may not make the low carb food list, but they certainly should make it to your lunch pail.
The low carb food list for most people will almost always include every type of fresh meat, even the muscle and organ cuts. Shellfish are slightly more dense in carbohydrates, so you may not want to add them to your low carb food list just yet. Try replacing them six days a week with broiled, baked, or charbroiled whitefish. Cooking any of your fresh, untreated and not breaded meats on a grill or in broiler will give you a great low carb center piece for your healthy meal. It will also do us all some good to exercise a bit of portion control, and this will mean cutting your meat portions down to 3.5 to 4 ounces per serving. Accompanied by one cup of rich, leafy salad and 6 ounces of steamed broccoli, you have accomplished a great, nutritious meal that will help you to maintain your health goals.
There are low carb food list don’ts as well, given the vast variety of processed “diet” foods available on the market today. With the exception of a few healthy supplements made of natural ingredients for athletes and those with deficiencies, there are no fad boxed foods which should never make their way to your stomach. They probably are not harmful, but they certainly aren’t necessary either. Low carb crackers and cookies can be included in your diet, but you need to give in to that money market if you don’t want to. There are usually a great many empty calories in such products, and none of us need those.
Complex carbohydrates should never make your low carb food list. Foods such as potato chips, desserts, processed sugar granules, white dense breads, and bleached pasta are just a few of these bad carb products. Be sure to limit these types of foods to about four per week. You don’t need to deprive yourself in order to be healthy.
