First of all it is important to note that, despite the low-carb mayhem diets that we have been force fed over the past ten years, good carbs are necessary to our overall organ function. What’s more, you can loose weight while ingesting fair amounts of good carbs, and you should not discontinue the ingestion of this important nutritional element. The bad carbs are those which are compound, or complex, and have been manufactured or processed. These are the very foods which we all must try to be careful with, and those who are attempting to loose weight should not partake in them very often.

Let’s begin with a list of carbohydrates which is considerably good for you. Any of the natural occurring carbohydrates, which are called simple carbs, are a great addition to your daily eating routine. It’s a good thing too, because they are very hard to avoid on a day to day basis. Our list of carbohydrates on the good side, then, will begin with vegetables and fruits. Some offer a more intense dosage of this great nutrient, fresh berries being the highest. Blueberries and raspberries are good examples of this rule, followed by such favorites as bananas and peaches. Green vegetables, especially the leafy kind, offer a good balance between fiber, iron, and carbohydrate, making it an almost perfect food. On the high end of good carb content we have the legumes, the nuts, and the beans. These are all quite healthful, and offer a good full feeling once you’re through with your meal.

On our list of carbohydrates that are bad for us, or should I say less helpful and nutritious, we could go on and on all day. I should start by explaining that many of these food items are used by athletes in order to store and access energy for big games and events, and this can work out well for anyone who needs this reserve. Anything containing processed sugar cane is considered as a bad carbohydrate, so that pretty much black marks most of our favorite foods. These can still be eaten in moderation, and you shouldn’t deprive yourself of those things that you want and deserve, lest you should go over the edge and overindulge. Consume with caution potato chips, white dense breads, bleached pastas, heavy desserts, and anything else that is so tasty it has to be illegal. This should give you a good basis for the beginning of your healthy eating career.
