High Carb Foods
What’s Wrong With High Carb Foods?
High carb foods should not automatically be considered off the table, as many of the most natural and nutritious foods are loaded with good carbohydrates that the body needs. High carb foods can also include very empty and heavy foods which slow down our metabolisms and clog up our energy sources. Knowing the difference between high carb foods which are good for you and those which are not is the ultimate key to your overall health. While good carbohydrates aid in the absorption of protein and iron, two of our most important and difficult minerals to procure and utilize. We need to be aware of our limits and needs in order to fully understand what carbohydrates mean to our bodies, and in hopes of accomplishing just that, here we go.
Foods that are high in carbs, as mentioned, are not bad for you, as long as they come from the appropriate sources. Fresh green vegetables and fibrous leafy greens are both excellent sources of good carbohydrates, and these types of foods should not be avoided for any reason. There are no diets whatsoever which should restrict the human being from eating these no sugar, no fat, high mineral and vitamin content foods. The only diets which have ever attempted such a ludicrous feat were the extreme low-carb fad diets which we have intelligently put to rest. Hopefully, it will stay that way.
A few more high carb foods which are absolutely essential to your health and well being include whole grains, fresh berries, fruits, nuts, legumes, and beans. For a great example of a meal which incorporates everything you might need to sustain health and well being on a long term basis, you might try tossing a beautiful spinach and collard leaf salad with a sprinkle of hard cheese, a few sunflower seeds, and some garbanzo beans. Of course, adding any number of good carb ingredients is acceptable, and a light dusting of vinegar and high quality olive oil will top it all off perfectly.
If you are considering those high carb foods which offer far less nutritional and beneficial elements than those mentioned as natural sources, you may want to determine yourself to using moderate amounts. White bleached pastas, desserts, white sugar, dense white breads, and potato chips are just a few of the examples that you may want to ingest on a less frequent basis. You might still partake in these delectable treats, as nobody should be without chocolate cake and Italian bread! Don’t be surprised, however, should you be left feeling a bit lethargic or sleepy once you’re through. These bad carbs are tough on the metabolism and on the digestive tract.
