Get Rid Of Wasps

How To Get Rid Of Wasps
If you need to get rid of wasps that are invading your residential space, it is a good idea to do the research, know what you’re doing and always use precautions. Some wasps, like hornets and yellow jackets, can be very aggressive and will attack in swarms if their nest is threatened.
The first recommendation when you want to get rid of wasps is to accurately assess the situation. Find out where the nest is, how big it is and determine what type of wasp you are dealing with. If you are getting rid of solitary wasps like mud daubers, their nests can just be knocked down and destroyed. A mud dauber wasp is not dangerous and will not attack if their nest is destroyed.
If social wasps are your problem, then disposing of them may be more difficult. Depending on nest size and wasp type, you may want to hire a specialist to get rid of wasps like hornets or yellow jackets. Another option is to simply leave the nest alone. If the wasp nest is not a great bother to you, the wasps will do their business over a period of 3 or 4 months and then abandon the nest on their own. In general, if you leave them alone they will leave you alone.
If getting rid of the wasp nest is the path you choose, always be sure to wear the proper clothing and protective gear for safety. A long sleeve shirt and long pants should be worn, as well as goggles to protect the eyes and something to cover the throat and mouth. These are all sensitive areas that need extra protection from wasp stings.
Most wasp nests hang down from a tree or similar surface. They have a single exit and entrance, which is a hole at the bottom of the nest. This is ground zero for wasp nest destruction, since the first step when getting rid of a wasp nest is to kill all of the wasps.
Never try to abolish wasps by hitting, swatting or otherwise destroying their nest with live wasps still inside. This will almost certainly cause the wasps to swarm and attack you, and multiple wasp stings can be very detrimental to your health. In order to kill the wasps, spray wasp killer into the hole at the bottom of the nest until all of the wasps are dead. Most wasp sprays will kill a wasp immediately on contact.
Once you are sure that all of the wasps are dead, you can safely remove and destroy the nest. For best results, wasp nest destruction should be done in the early evening or at night when all of the wasps are at home in the nest. If you need to use a flashlight to spot the nest, try not to aim it directly inside and disturb the wasps.
