Kill Termites

Some Important Advice for Those Looking To Kill Termites
To kill termites efficiently, you must be armed with all of the gory details of their existence. I know, I would much rather aim, pull the trigger, and have them disappear as well, but this type of magic is simply not possible yet. For those looking at building a new residence or structure, the good news come in the form of treated lumber and wood substitutes which are completely to the detriment of the termite. If you live or do business in an older building, or one in which you were given no choice in the matter of construction, you are most likely past the point of prevention and looking to kill termites. Sounds easy enough, but is in essence so difficult that an easy fix has yet to be discovered. And here are the creepy details.
Within your walls, ceiling rafters, closet doors, or anywhere else in your home where dense cellulose can be found, therein lies the problem. They are chewing, grinding, eating, relieving themselves, breeding, and colonizing just inches from you. Sometimes you can hear them, sometimes you don’t know that there is an issue until your walls are composed of sawdust. Depending on the size of the infestation, as well as on the length of time they have been colonizing, this full blown occurrence can take as little as one year to take full toll. There are countless methods which the professionals use to kill termites, and many more are being developed as we read.
We used to use a liquid repellent to kill termites and prevent them from entering our foundations for up to three years time. The toxicity of this treatment, however, caused a major decline in its use some ten years ago. This chemical was poured in excess of three and four hundred gallons per home during each treatment. This left considerable question as to the pollution of ground water supplies and neighboring bodies of water. Enter fipronil, a more effective, more costly, yet less toxic liquid pesticide used not to repel, but to kill termites.
And now, off we go to the more recent yet promisingly effective bait treatments, which are developed to kill termites slowly. For the most part, you will need a professional to gauge where to use these products and how many installments you will need to get the job done right. The most popular form of these baiting treatments uses a chemical which causes deformities, retarded growth, and defects which will kill off the colony one by one. This can take some time, but so can tearing down your walls to find each one of those little buggers. The differences, of course, are time conservation and rebuilding costs. Slowly and surely is much better than not at all.
