These mind and body therapies not only relax you mentally, but they help your body recover from the effects of stress too. Test it out the next time you feel your heart rate rising when confronted with a stressful situation. Just stop for a moment, close your eyes and take 4 or 5 deep breaths. Within seconds you will feel your heartbeat begin to slow down and the stress response start to recede.
