Hangover Food

Some Things You May Want to Know about Hangover Food

Hangover food can help ease your transition from being hung over to being yourself again. Various foods work for various people, and some of those are listed here. These people responded to a blog which asked what foods and drinks worked best for them, on the morning after.

One drinker finds that Egg McMuffins are a good hangover food for him. He follows them with an energy drink and he says he's good to go. Actually, caffeine should make it harder to rebound from your hangover, not easier, so I would advise against the energy drink and replace it with a milder sports drink like Gatorade or Powerade.

Another drinker recommends lots of water and some Advil before going to bed, and foods without much flavor, the morning after. He especially likes pasta with salt, butter and ricotta. He also drinks coca cola. I would recommend caffeine-free cola if you need a cola drink, and the Advil is a questionable choice, since it may act as a further blood thinner after alcohol.

Another hangover food that's recommended by a drinker is bacon and eggs, with toast. He also likes fountain coca cola, although caffeine is contra-indicated during a hangover.

Some drinkers say that they find relief in breakfast tacos, with potatoes and eggs in them, followed by an ice-cold soda. They don't mention caffeine, but it is best to stay away from caffeine.

A hangover food that has some loyal fans is a “country bowl” of breakfast, consisting of browned potatoes covered in fried eggs and cheese sauce. This sounds rather “heavy” for a hangover breakfast, but some people swear by it.

Some drinkers also like to drink lots of water and then eat a bowl of cream of wheat with milk in it. And they sometimes add a banana, as well.

Another hangover food is cold pizza. A lot of people mention this one. Washed down with a caffeine free drink, it seems to help some people bounce back more quickly.

One reader enjoys a greasy cheeseburger, with onion rings and a root beer. It sounds too greasy to be appetizing on a hangover day, but whatever works for him, works for him.

Another blogger likes to start the day after with a diet Pepsi and water, followed by won ton soup and Chinese broccoli. This is a more original idea, but again, I would stick to caffeine-free Pepsi, if you must have a soda.

One sufferer of hangovers likes to follow up a night of drinking with Gatorade, bananas and grapes. This sounds a little more palatable than some of these other creations.

Hangover food is clearly a matter of preference, and the diets are very individualized. None of these comes with any guarantee, obviously, but they might be something to try if you don't have a food that works for your hangover.
