Type A Flu

What Type A Flu Means For You

Type A flu is, by far, the most harsh and aggressive strain of flu known to man. Type A flu was responsible for 40 million human lives during the flu pandemic of 1919, a world wide spread of death and disease. It can cause an entire host of symptoms, usually all at once, and has been known to hold healthy adults hostage in bed for upwards of seven day straight. The virus changes and evolves every year, making complete vaccination against it impossible, but the flu shot is still considered to be as good a preventative tool as can be used. Infants below the age of 6 months cannot be vaccinated, but they rarely contract severe bouts of type A flu to begin with. They have stronger antibodies than do older children and adults.

The first symptoms associated with the type A flu virus will hit very hard, descriptions often likened to being hit by a truck. The head will begin to throb, followed by deep pains in the joints and muscles. Within an hour of this onset, the sufferer will feel overwhelmingly exhausted and begin to feel aches and pains throughout the entire body. Chest pain is often reported, and this will get worse and more deeply rooted as the illness takes its course. The cough which accompanies the type A flu virus is very dry and repetitive, often causing throat and neck pain but not producing any mucus. The flu cough is one all its own, and a nasty one at that.

If you should be so unfortunate as to contract the stomach issues which can come along with type A flu, your ailments and recovery will be all that more intense. Dehydration is an issue which needs to be consistently addressed with any type of flu, but we all know how difficult it can be to maintain fluids while dealing with diarrhea and vomiting. Especially in children, dehydration is the number cause of hospitalization and death as a symptom of the flu. For type A flu which isn’t affecting the stomach, it is thought that warm liquids are more effective at relieving head and sinus discomforts associated.

If you are suffering the stomach sensitivity as well, it is often quite violent and any attempt to ingest is met with immediate vomit reflex. You must keep trying, however, to sip room temperature water or diluted apple juice, even if it comes right back up. Eventually a little bit will absorb, and this will begin to settle your stomach and bowels convulsions. Be sure to rest as much as possible, and get somebody to pick you some flu remedy from the local drug store. Take good care of you and your loved ones!
