Left Chest Pain
Centralized Or Left Chest Pain
There are a great many pulmonary or circulatory issues which can cause left chest pain, and even the very least of them warrants medical attention and advice. Though some pains are atypical and have absolutely nothing to do with the health of your heart, lungs, or blood, this should always be left for the doctor to decide. No matter your age, you will need to pay close attention to left chest pain, and remember what you were doing when it hit, how long it lasted, and whether or not it recurs during anxiety, eating, or activity. These are the questions that doctors will use, along with blood tests and highly technological diagnostic tools, to determine what has happened with you and whether it will happen again. Knowing the answers to them will ensure that you receive the proper treatment as quickly as possible.
If it is determined that the left chest pain you have suffered is atypical, you will most likely be tested for anxiety or depression disorders which frequently cause such physical symptoms. If is determined that you are under pulmonary or circulatory duress, you will be treated accordingly as well. The difference between the two can be hard to distinguish for a person being plagued with the pain and the shortness of breath that can occur, but there are ways that you can narrow down the possibilities. Atypical pain is usually associated with a stressful or anxious situation, and even if you haven’t been diagnosed with an anxiety disorder, this may be a severe symptom of just this type of illness.
It is important to remember that you can not die from an anxiety attack, and that the left chest pain that may accompany it is not dangerous. This is your body’s reaction to your psyche feeling overwhelmed, and the best thing that you can do is try to maintain proper breathing and rest calmly. The pain may be felt at the back, sides, chest, stomach, shoulders, and arms, much like the symptoms of a heart attack, but they are surface pains which wane and shoot. There is rarely immense chest pressure. You will still want to seek immediate medical attention if you suffer atypical left chest pain associated with anxiety, as your treatment plan needs to be hashed out as quickly as possible.
If you are having more centralized and radiating left chest pain, or if you can’t tell where the pain has begun, you are more likely to be suffering pulmonary or circulatory distress, and medical attention should be sought immediately. You may also experience pain in the jaw, neck, teeth, sides, back, arms, shoulders, and stomach cavity, and these pains may be accompanied by dizziness, vomiting, faintness, immense pressure, and difficulty breathing. Be sure to follow the advice of your physician exactly.
