Confidence Training

Confidence Training: Some Do It Yourself Tips

There are quite a few forms of confidence training, from literature to conferences, hypnosis to classes, seminars to long talks with therapists. There are also ways that you can instill confidence in yourself, your children, your friends, or whoever it is that you are concerned about. All it takes is the realization that we don’t always need somebody there to hold our hand and talk us through. Placing ourselves or those we care about into normal situations where they can deal with things on their own is the best confidence training that you can hope to accomplish. If you have a skittish dog, for instance, you will want to help him face his fears by introducing him to that which frightens him and being patient enough to let him work through his fear. We can do this with ourselves as well.

The most natural confidence training that you can administer would be to put yourself into public situations without a partner there for company. What this does is simple: this forces you to keep your own company, and allows you to learn to be comfortable with your surroundings. We don’t always need companionship, and the best lessons that we can teach ourselves are learned when we listen to and trust ourselves. Having a sounding board for every occasion only weakens our natural instincts, and we all need to practice listening to ourselves a little bit better.

If you feel that you are in need of professional confidence training, you will want to thoroughly research the treatment or education provider to ensure that you are getting the most for your money. You can start by taking yourself out to a movie. Just go, turn off your phone, see whatever you want, and enjoy the moment. If this gives you major frights, and you find that you were too uncomfortable to enjoy yourself, then maybe you should pick up a couple of books on confidence training. This will allow you to ease into the general lingo and expectations of being a confident person. Form there, you may decide that you are either ready to do the confidence training for yourself, or that you want to try your hand with a professional.

It is important for you to remember that you are worth all of this trouble and discomfort. Don’t forget that you are an important person who deserves to feel comfortable in your own skin. Try to see yourself in a different light, giving less weight to the social parameters around you and more weight to discovering who you are and what makes you tick. The more you care for yourself, the less power strangers and others have to make you feel less than worthy.
